Not a Skier? Here’s How to Enjoy Sierra Nevada

A trip to the snow doesn’t have to mean skiing. If you’re not hitting the slopes, you can take things at a slower pace: enjoy the views, explore the area, try a snow activity or simply relax.

Here are some ideas for making the most of your visit.

1. Take a relaxed morning

Start with a leisurely breakfast, then take a walk around Pradollano. Enjoy the mountain views, breathe in the fresh air and take a few photos in the snow.

2. Visit the slopes as a pedestrian

Curious to see the ski area up close? Buy a pedestrian lift pass and take the gondola up to Borreguiles. The pass includes one ascent and one descent, so make the most of your time at the top.

3. Try a snow activity

There are ways to enjoy the snow without skiing:

  • Go snowshoeing: Join an excursion and explore different areas of Sierra Nevada on foot while getting some exercise.

  • Visit the activity parks: El Mirlo Blanco and Borreguiles offer snow activities such as tubing and other ways to play in the snow. For activities at Borreguiles, you’ll also need a pedestrian lift pass.

  • Take a snowmobile ride: In Borreguiles, you can take a ride on a snowmobile with seats and enjoy the views without having to ski.

4. Relax, enjoy the sunshine and stop for coffee

If you’re in the mood to unwind, Sierra Nevada has plenty of options:

  • Relax at the Meliá Hotel spa: Enjoy the pool or spa circuit and the contrast between the warm indoor setting and the cold outdoors.

  • Have a coffee at El Lodge: Its slopeside terrace is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee while watching skiers pass by.

  • Find a sunny terrace in Pradollano: Sit back, enjoy the views and have a drink before the après-ski begins.

5. Watch the sunset, then enjoy après-ski

Après-ski in Pradollano gets going from around midday, with places where you can have a drink and listen to music. Later, make time for dinner: there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

If you’re looking for a night out, many of the leisure venues are concentrated in La Galería, where you can start with a drink and continue dancing.

For a memorable end to the day, head to one of the higher areas to watch the sunset. The mountain views and changing colours can make for a spectacular scene.

6. Explore beyond the resort

If you have extra time, use it to discover more of the region. Visit Granada to enjoy its culture, sights and viewpoints, or explore the Alpujarra, with its charming mountain villages.
