Snow and altitude pose risks that do not exist in other environments. Protect your furry companion with these basic precautions:

1. Pet-Friendly Logistics: Accommodation and Dining

Never assume access is allowed. Before setting off on your trip, planning is key:

Accommodation and Booking

Let them know and book specifically with those establishments (hotels and apartments) that confirm in writing that they allow pets.

Restaurants and Terraces

The new Animal Welfare Law allows pets to enter establishments where food or drinks are consumed.

2. Mandatory Regulations: Access and Restraint

In common areas and ski areas, there are strict regulations designed to ensure the safety of skiers and visitors. For everyone’s safety, it is mandatory to keep your pet under control at all times.

Restraint Rules (Leash and Muzzle)

-Leash Mandatory: Keep your dog on a leash at all times in all areas of the resort.
-PPP (Potentially Dangerous Dogs): If your dog is classified as Potentially Dangerous (PPP), it is mandatory that, in addition to being on a leash, it wears a muzzle at all times.
-Exception: The only dogs authorized to move around off-leash are those of the Guardia Civil and the Local Police, in the performance of their duties.
PROHIBITED! Riding the gondola with animals is strictly prohibited. The only exception to this rule is properly identified guide dogs.

3. Health and Well-Being at Altitude: Protect Your Best Friend

If it is a small dog, short-haired, or advanced in age, protect it from the cold with appropriate clothing (coat or waterproof jacket).
Do not allow your dog to eat snow, as it can cause serious stomach problems (vomiting and diarrhea).
Paw pads suffer a lot from ice, hard snow, and salt. Use specific creams or protective booties to prevent cracks and injuries.
Watch that your dog does not suffer from the change in altitude and, above all, keep it away from ski and snowboard areas to avoid accidents.
